Driver Training continues to be the most important physical skill in LE training alongside firearms proficiency. In pursuit of these skills, the Detroit PD Emergency Vehicle Operations Training Unit recently added a 2025 Explorer with a Type A SKIDCAR SYSTEM to their academy. The EVO instructors were surprised and impressed that the SKIDCAR delivered more than just learning to control skids. It also allows for mastering basic vehicle control utilizing the new ADAS technology targeted at vehicle control and safety. With the SKIDCAR SYSTEM INC curriculum and HAL Controller guide to standardized grip settings, the Detroit PD can now deliver a more concise, consistent, and efficient vehicle dynamics driver training program. Enhancing new and experienced drivers' ability to integrate with the vehicle's safety systems, gets them where they need to go, at a safe speed, while maintaining the utmost safety when in a hurry. Congratulations to the Detroit PD on their new SKIDCAR SYSTEM, the best driver training tool on the market today!
The NCCJA received its Type A SKIDCAR SYSTEM and will use it mounted to a Dodge Charger Pursuit. This Academy is the standard for driver training curriculum statewide. Many of today's law enforcement academies are still training with a 30-year-old curriculum from the days when ABS braking systems were new. A lot has changed and acquisition of the SKIDCAR was a deliberate step toward modern EVO training in consideration of the new ADAS technology and how it applies to 21st century vehicle control techniques. The NCCJA is rapidly bringing its curriculum up to speed to be as technically correct as possible while training drivers in modern driving strategies. These skills will get them where they need to go quickly, intelligently, efficiently, and safely. Congratulations to these very experienced instructors on their new SKIDCAR SYSTEM driver training tool!
PG&E, a major California utility provider, has been utilizing a SKIDCAR and SKIDTRUCK for driver training since 2010. They recently upgraded their SKIDCAR, which was originally used on a Ford Crown Victoria, to a modern Ford Ranger Pickup Truck. This 17-year-old SKIDCAR SYSTEM has now been repurposed to expose modern technology used in today's sedans, SUVs, and pickup trucks. The new instructors are learning how to calibrate the traction of the SKIDCAR to offer more consistent, realistic, and modern training methods of vehicle control, effectively exposing today's drivers to electronic stability controls, traction controls, and advanced ABS braking. It is also an advantage to be able to change the drive systems on the Ranger; switching the drive training control from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive gives this team the ability to deliver training for loose surfaces where 4-wheel drive is needed. Additionally, they now have the opportunity to switch traction control on and off to get unstuck from loose surfaces where needed. Advanced driver training and incredible ROI made simple through decades of use with the SKIDCAR SYSTEM!
The South Metro Safety Association of Colorado received their new Type A SKIDCAR SYSTEM and paired it for use with a Ford Explorer. This SKIDCAR will serve first responders for Police, Fire, and EMS driver safety training, and will also be a major new component to their Teen Driver Safety Programs. Taught by a collection of police EVO instructors, professionals with years of advanced driver training experience, and newly certified SKIDCAR Instructors, the teen program will focus on critical safety elements. The expectations of SKIDCAR use were more than met – from basic analog skid control lessons to new, cutting-edge training for driving with ADAS technology including Electric Stability Control, Traction control, and modern ABS braking techniques. Civilian driver training that normally would have to take place at a race track or large driving area can be delivered in small, paved areas. Exercises in grip, practice in smooth braking, threshold braking, and maximum braking can all be done using the SKIDCAR. The experiences of braking in a straight line, braking and turning (using ABS), and then experiencing what not to do, as in “Swerve, Brake, and Crash”, are life-saving lessons. Congratulations to South Metro Safety Association on the addition of the SKIDCAR SYSTEM to their array of driver training programs!
