SKIDCAR™ Type C: Ambulances / HumVees
If you drive an emergency or service vehicle such as an ambulance, First Responder truck or military HumVee, you’re already faced with high-stress situations. The last thing you need is to increase that stress by hitting a patch of ice or hydroplaning and losing control. SKIDCAR™ Type C is designed to teach you how to anticipate those hazards, maintain control, and manage the stress of driving in dangerous road conditions.
Model(s): fitted for light ambulances or heavy humvees; system individually engineered for one or more models based on width, length, wheelbase and weight
Max Weight: 10,000 lbs (vehicle and occupants)
Specifications: System consists of a steel ladder frame, connected to the suspension of a vehicle, with outriggers fitted front and rear. These outriggers carry hydraulic rams connected to free castering wheels at each of its four corners. See parts list for Type C (PDF).
Through the use of an electro-hydraulic pump and a manual or electronic controller, the SKIDCAR SYSTEM® will transfer the weight of the vehicle to the outrigger/frame assembly. This weight transfer allows the change and manipulation of the vehicle’s co-efficient of friction (a.k.a. traction) to duplicate hazardous conditions for driver training purposes.
