Mobile Driver Training Program
The SKIDCAR SYSTEM Mobile Driver Training Program provides a training event unlike any other. Students are immersed in the authentic experience of adverse driving conditions which alert them to their personal stress reactions. Although the design of the SKIDCAR keeps them safe, students are practicing in a real vehicle and are therefore exposed to the true physical and emotional responses that are unattainable through simulation alone. Real reactions to vehicle movement and loss of control are not merely discussed, but actually felt.
By allowing the student to experience adverse driving conditions first hand, they are given the opportunity to practice a system of proper thought processes and motor skills through the haze of negative reactions which occur in authentic driving emergencies. No other program so successfully combines the safety of your students with the realism needed to fully understand the important aspects of a proactive Road Safety approach.
This program is delivered at your facility or training area (minimum space 175 x 400 feet required) by a Certified SKIDCAR™ Instructor. The course outline is listed below and can be adapted to accommodate between eight (8) and twenty-four (24) different students each day.
The professional instructor leads students through a technically correct understanding of vehicle dynamics in the classroom portion, and then demonstrates physical outcomes during in-car exercises. Improvement is attained through intense repetition of behind the wheel exercises.
Classroom Portion
Concepts covered include three centers of Driving Program Priority:
Use of thought process and vision: Our goal is to convey to students how vision (use of sight) can lower risk and lengthen the time available to make proper decisions in personal risk assessment and avoidance while controlling a vehicle.
Over-use and misuse of the steering wheel: During events that require immediate response, most drivers overreact with over-use of the steering wheel. A driving program utilizing the SKIDCAR teaches the practicality of always paying attention and the ease and confidence of learning to use the controls less.
Proper use of the braking system: We combine the design philosophy of 21st Century Electronic Stability Controls with practical application of standard ABS common to almost every vehicle today.
Behind the Wheel Exercises
Practice Scenarios include:
Driver Safety Checks – Passenger safety, course safety, SKIDCAR safety
Driver Adjustment & Control Operation – Seat belt use, vision control, shuffle steering, brakes, gas, seat adjustment
Vehicle Dynamics – Stable platform concepts, causes of front/rear wheel skids, methods to reintroduce grip
Understanding Electronic Stability Control/Traction Control – ESC triggers, ability to “feed” grip when ESC is engaged, understanding steering technique
ABS Use and Understanding – Emergency brake straight, brake and turn, emergency avoidance gone bad
Should your student number goals exceed the maximums listed above; training days can be extended in five-day blocks based on your needs. Pricing is inclusive of all equipment and materials necessary including use of a Type A SKIDCAR SYSTEM®, vehicle, curriculum, and no less than five (5) days of instruction. The vehicle provided will be capable of both 2WD and 4WD, with the option to activate/deactivate ESC and ABS as needed. The above training curriculum is available for use in a variety of fields, including: General Fleet, EVOC, EVOC Instructor Grade Advanced Techniques, and/or ESC Workshops.
